About me and my experience

How I came to work with non-profits

I’m proud to have led over 25 strategic planning processes, helped organizations raise over $350 million dollars in campaigns big and small, providing training, coaching, and facilitation to help groups move through uncertainty and accomplish more good.

My career started as a program director developing a new community-service learning program for a college and then leading an experiential-learning program for teaching conflict-resolution skills in schools. By that time, Boston was starting the “big dig” turning out tunnels and bridges to last 100+ years, and yet we were struggling to sustain vibrant after-school programs. It bothered me - why can’t we build something long-lasting? This curiosity led me to get an MBA. Then I wanted to understand the process of growing support for outstanding programs and I become the Development Director for an independent school. Fundraising has since become one of my passions. I also co-founded two non-profits (Health In Harmony and Friends of Northampton Trails) and served on various Boards of Directors. I’m a Quaker and a member of the Northampton Friends Meeting. For over 12 years, I’ve worked for the Harold Grinspoon Foundation as a consultant at JCamp 180 providing consulting services to Jewish non-profit summer camps across the US and Canada. Over the years I’ve come to delight in the partnership between inspired strategic planning and accelerated fundraising.

Looking ahead, I’m curious again: How might we link our daily work and our future plans with a willingness to act now on the climate crisis? We are painfully aware that we must do something, but do you feel stuck, stalled, or stymied as to where to start?. Work with me, and I will guild you to your plan of action.

A challenge: Let’s make climate action mission-critical in your organization. You can use strategic planning to help your organization proactively and holistically plan for the future - and that includes planning for a changed climate. I’m ready. Are you?

The region I cover: I am based in Northampton, Massachusetts. I serve organizations in Western Massachusetts and nationwide.

Move through uncertainty. Rise, plan, act.
